Making Justice Real Campaign

Since 1990, the DC legal community has come together each summer to raise funds to support Legal Aid’s mission. This year, the Making Justice Real Campaign raised nearly $3.1 million, enough to cover more than one-third of the organization’s annual budget. We are extraordinarily grateful to Honorary Co-Chairs Carter Phillips and Virginia Seitz of Sidley, our committee of associate Co-Chairs, the hundreds of attorneys who led campaigns at their firms, and the more than 5,000 people who donated.

“There is no more desperate situation confronting Legal Aid than what we face in DC these days. There are many residents in this City facing dire circumstances and who lack the ability to access legal services that can prevent catastrophes in their lives. It is a fundamental part of our professional responsibility to do what we can to ensure equal access to justice.”

CARTER PHILLIPS, HONORARY CO-CHAIR

The Campaign raised over $3 million for the first time (the previous record was $2.48 million, set in 2019), and two institutional donors stepped up to make the first two $100,000 donations in the Campaign’s history: Sidley and Chemonics International. Given the rising need in our client community, this unprecedented wave of support. could not have come at a better time. We are pleased to share the firms who placed in the Top Five of their respective size categories.
